60 pages (including covers and pull outs) 2013 40th Anniversary brocure. Printed on Fedrigoni Arcoprint Milk paper - 300gsm cover with a 140gsm content page weight, in a four + 1 special (Pantone 1225) colour process using digitally mastered stochastic plates and PUR bound before final trim.
3,000 sheets of the 300gsm paper, measuring 700 x 1000mm were needed for the cover, weighing a total of 630kg. The text pages required 36,000 sheets of the 140gsm stock, each measuring 720 x 1020mm with a total weight of 3701kg.
The stochastic printing process takes the usually regular-dotted screen and creates a random pattern for all colour passes. This produces an incredibly rich colour across the printing gamut. Destroying the creation of any moire pattern, it also increases the clarity of both the words and the images - revealing the smallest details and enabling a fantastic communication of our products.
The brochure features a four page fold out Timeline wtih many of our products dating from 1973 through to the present day. Interleaved with full page close up detail shots of not only our current ranges, but also of products used and loved for over 30 years by our customers; the photography is beautifully realised in this printed form.
Set in distinct sections, the brochure leads you through our production process, an explanation of our raw materials and our product lines. It then finishes with an indepth technical section that details the dimensions, capacities and other features of each product.
On the last page is a display of some images taken from our archive. These include a self portrait of Mr. Martin Billingham, a photograph taken for our 1996 brochure by Mr. M. Billingham in the Isle Of Skye, a candid photograph of a previous employee by Mr. M. Billingham and old products and signage from our company.
The binding of the brochure was carried out at New Forest Binding in Verwood, Dorset.
The binding method is known as PUR binding and uses a special Polyurethan Reactive Adhesive, the most durable binding glue available and approximately 2.5 times stronger than conventional E.V.A. adhesive. It sets by crosslinking via a chemical reaction with moisture contained in the paper stock or surrounding air. Once cured, the adhesive's higher molecular weight provides a tough pliable bond that is resistant to temperature extremes. In total, about 20kg of PUR adhesive was used to bind all the brochures.
Each copy will be mailed in a cardboard envelope to your address. One brochure per order and envelope and postage fee.
